Special Assets VP

Manage a portfolio of stressed and distressed credit exposures across corporate, structured finance, leveraged finance, and project finance transactions. Perform ongoing assessment of deteriorating credit situations and identify potential risks impacting the bank’s exposure. Lead or support restructuring, amendment, forbearance, and recovery negotiations with borrowers, sponsors, legal counsel, and external advisors. Prepare detailed credit analysis and workout recommendations for internal committees and senior management. Assess collateral quality, liquidity, and recovery prospects under various downside scenarios. Partner closely with Front Office, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to develop strategies that protect the bank’s interests. Monitor covenant compliance, liquidity events, refinancing risks, and market developments impacting borrowers. Participate in watch list reviews and special assets governance processes. Contribute to the development of workout strategies, policies, and portfolio risk management initiatives. Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements. Skills & Qualifications 7+ years of experience within credit risk, workout/special assets, restructuring, leveraged finance risk, or distressed investing. Strong understanding of corporate credit analysis and restructuring/workout processes. Experience managing stressed or distressed credit situations. Ability to analyze complex capital structures and downside/recovery scenarios. Experience working with legal documentation, amendments, waivers, and restructuring negotiations. Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills. Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments. Strong partnership skills across Risk, Front Office, Legal, and senior stakeholders. Knowledge of US credit markets and regulatory practices preferred.
