2026 Per Diem Summer Building Nurse Job ID: 5545332 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Feb 19, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description The 2026 Summer Per Diem Building Nurse will provide coverage to Summer Nurses to support students participating in onsite summer programs. Working under the direction of the Summer and Vacation Week Program Manager, the Per Diem Nurse will support medication management for students in CPS academic programs and provide general first aid for up to 200 students per building. The Nurse will be available for on‑site shifts scheduled Monday, July7–Monday, August1. Shifts are 7hours (8:00a.m.–2:00p.m.) at one of the following buildings: CRLS, Haggerty, M.L.King/PAUS, KingOpen/CSUS, Morse, Peabody/RAUC, and Tobin/DVUS. The position will be scheduled and overseen by the Summer Charge Nurse, with support from the CPS Operations Manager. It includes 1–2hours for orientation and onboarding to the program. Duties Collaborate with Summer Program Site Coordinators to maintain up‑to‑date student health information for the summer. Oversee and administer medication; manage per‑student medical records and IEP/504 plans. Respond appropriately to health emergencies and provide first aid. Assess the social and emotional climate for students. Help establish a positive school culture and climate where every child feels safe and respected. Minimum Requirements Registered Nurse, Licensed Nurse Practitioner, or Physician's Assistant. 3 to 5years of nursing experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with empathy and listening ability. Preference given to current CHA employees. Experience working with youth; nursing experience within a school setting preferred. Contract Details Length of Contract: July6,2026toJuly31,2026 Contract Amount: Not exceed $5,320.00 Hourly rate depends on collective bargaining agreement or individual rate. Non‑exempt employees who work more than 40 hours a week will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40.
