Position Overview

The Commercial Roofing Service Foreman leads our service crew in the field and is one of the most important customer-facing positions in our Commercial Division.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You'll troubleshoot leaks, perform repairs, lead technicians, communicate with customers, document conditions, and make good decisions in the field.

We don't want someone who simply finds a hole and patches it. We want someone who determines why it happened, where the water is actually coming from, and how to fix it correctly.

Service & Troubleshooting

Lead commercial leak calls, repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and small projects.

Diagnose the actual source of water intrusion.

Investigate roofing, walls, penetrations, sheet metal, drainage, curbs, and flashings.

Complete permanent repairs whenever possible and safe temporary repairs when necessary.

Identify additional deficiencies and clearly communicate what needs attention.

Know when to ask for support rather than guessing.

Roofing Knowledge

Strong working knowledge of TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, BUR, coatings, metal roofing, and low-slope systems.

Understand insulation, cover boards, penetrations, drains, scuppers, gutters, coping, edge metal, roof-to-wall conditions, and flashing details.

Understand basic waterproofing and building-envelope conditions.

Perform repairs using proper manufacturer requirements and TLR means and methods.

Lead From the Roof

Plan the day's work before getting on the roof.

Make sure the crew has the correct materials, tools, equipment, and safety gear.

Give technicians clear direction and work alongside them.

Set expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism.

Train and develop technicians and inspect completed work.

Keep trucks, tools, materials, and jobsites organized.

Every Service Call

Understand it. Know what the customer is experiencing.

Investigate it. Find the actual source of the problem.

Document it. Take clear before, during, and after photos.

Fix it. Complete the repair correctly.

Look beyond it. Identify other deficiencies that could become future problems.

Communicate it. Explain what was found, repaired, and recommended.

Leave it better. Clean the work area and check your work before leaving.

Safety & Quality

Follow OSHA requirements and all TLR safety procedures.

Complete required pre-job planning and safety discussions.

Properly use fall protection, ladders, PPE, and other safety equipment.

Stop work when conditions are unsafe.

Protect customer property and building interiors.

Inspect completed work before leaving.

Never sacrifice safety or quality just to finish faster.

Documentation & Communication

Complete service tickets accurately and on time with clear before, during, and after photos.

Write field notes others can easily understand and accurately track labor, materials, and time.

Communicate additional deficiencies and opportunities to the Commercial Service Manager.

Immediately communicate major discoveries, safety concerns, scope changes, or customer issues.

Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and material inventory.

What We're Looking For

3+ years of commercial roofing experience required.

Foreman, lead technician, or service experience preferred.

Valid driver's license required.

Strong commercial roof troubleshooting skills.

Working knowledge of TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal, coatings, and related systems.

Understanding of commercial sheet-metal and flashing details.

Ability to lead and develop a service crew.

Strong communication and customer-service skills.

Comfortable using a phone/tablet for photos and documentation.

Able to make sound field decisions without constant supervision.

Manufacturer certifications and OSHA training preferred.

Physical & Work Requirements

This is a hands-on field position requiring climbing ladders, working at heights, bending, kneeling, walking commercial roofs, and lifting approximately 50 lbs. Work is performed outdoors throughout the year. Early mornings, extended days, emergency calls, and occasional weekend work may be required.
