Position Title: Legal Assistant – Litigation Practice
Location: Houston Galleria Area (In-Office)
Compensation: Up to $82,000 + Bonus (commensurate with experience)

Overview

Our client, a well-established and growing law firm located in the Houston Galleria area, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support one of its litigation teams. This position has been created due to firm expansion and is an in-office role. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the litigation case process and thrive in a fast-paced legal environment with a high volume of active matters.

This role is well-suited for a dependable, detail-oriented professional who can manage competing priorities, maintain accurate case files, and provide consistent administrative and procedural support to attorneys. Individuals must have good tenure in their previous positions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, from case opening through resolution.
• Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, discovery responses, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Handle e-filing with state and federal courts and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
• Maintain and manage both electronic and hard-copy case files, ensuring accuracy, organization, and accessibility.
• Track and calendar deadlines, hearings, depositions, and court appearances with precision.
• Coordinate scheduling with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members.
• Prepare and organize exhibits, binders, and case materials for hearings, depositions, and trials.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Monitor case activity and proactively follow up on filings, orders, and outstanding items.
• Assist with billing, time entry, and other administrative tasks as needed.
• Provide general legal and administrative support in a high-volume litigation practice.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a litigation environment.
• Strong understanding of the litigation case process, court procedures, and filing requirements.
• Proven experience with e-filing, calendaring, and managing multiple active cases simultaneously.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume law firm environment.
• Experience managing both electronic and physical legal files.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
• Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable work history with demonstrated stability and solid tenure in prior roles.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed.
