Night Custodian – Multiple Locations Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $18.11 Per Hour Job Description Flex Locations: Waukee Elementary, Brookview, Prairieview, Maple Grove/Woodland Hills, Waterford/Radiant, Walnut Hills Responsibilities Complete assigned building daily expectations, including vacuuming, trash collection and removal, stocking supplies, sweeping, mopping, floor cleaning, restrooms, lunch room clean up, and in some buildings laundry. Clean up spills (including bodily fluids) throughout the building promptly as needed. Verify evening schedule and print for night staff. Maintain safe walkways using snow shovel, snow blower, and ice melt during winter months. Assist with electronic work orders: unlocking doors, minor equipment repair, moving materials, and entering tickets to maintenance department for in‑depth repair. Assist with inventory of custodial supplies: retrieve supply delivery, check supplies in, and organize into custodial workspace. Assist in training new custodial employees. Complete assigned building monthly task list, including preventative maintenance such as fire extinguisher checks and floor scrubbing machine use. Qualified Experience High School Diploma preferred. Custodial Experience: 0‑2 years required, 3‑5 years preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, building administrators, co‑workers, and supervisors. At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred. High School/Trade School degree preferred. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Physical Demands The custodian physical job demands include: Occasional maximum lift of 50 lbs from waist to above shoulder; Occasional maximum lift of 50 lbs from floor to waist; frequent maximum lift of 30 lbs from floor to shoulder; frequent carry of 50 lbs 10 feet; occasional maximum horizontal push/pull of 20 lbs; occasional maximum vertical pull of 25 lbs; frequent maximum grip of 20 lbs; frequent climb to 8 inches; occasional overhead reach; occasional trunk rotation; frequent reach forward to 24 inches; frequent bending; frequent standing; frequent walking; frequent balance. PDC Level: Heavy based on maximum floor to shoulder lift. Working Conditions Position is primarily indoors but may require outside work in extreme temperatures (>90°F or Benefits IPERS retirement account.
