Cohesity is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Director of Product Management to lead product strategy, roadmap execution, and market success for core data platform technologies including the Data Access Layer, SmartFiles, Filesystems, and Supportability Initiatives. This leader will play a critical role in shaping the future of Cohesity's scale-out data platform, enabling enterprise-grade performance, data accessibility, operational resilience, and customer experience.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in enterprise storage, distributed systems, data management platforms, and large-scale infrastructure with strong business acumen, customer empathy, and a proven track record of delivering innovative platform products at scale. You will partner closely with Engineering, Customer Support, Customer Success, Sales, and Executive Leadership to drive strategic investments that improve platform capabilities, operational efficiency, product reliability, and customer outcomes.

How You'll Spend Your Time Here

Define Product Vision and Strategy

• Develop a compelling product vision and long-term strategy for Cohesity's Data Platform services, including Data Access Layer, SmartFiles, Filesystems, and platform supportability investments.

• Drive multi-year product strategies focused on scalability, performance, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence.

• Identify customer and market opportunities through direct engagement, competitive analysis, customer feedback, and field insights.

• Establish clear investment priorities and business cases that accelerate platform innovation and improve customer experience.

Lead Product Portfolio Management

• Own roadmap planning, prioritization, and execution across multiple platform and infrastructure product areas.

• Balance short-term customer requirements with long-term platform modernization initiatives.

• Define and track key performance indicators around system performance, scalability, availability, platform adoption, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

• Ensure alignment across Product Management, Engineering, Customer Support, and Go-To-Market organizations.

Drive Platform Innovation

• Partner closely with engineering teams to advance distributed data services, metadata management, file system architectures, and data access technologies.

• Lead product strategy for SmartFiles and file services capabilities across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.

• Drive investments that improve data access performance storage efficiency, platform extensibility, and manageability.

• Champion innovations in AI-driven operations, automation, diagnostics, telemetry, and proactive platform health monitoring.

Deliver Customer and Business Outcomes

• Own platform adoption, customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness, and business impact metrics.

• Drive product decisions using telemetry, performance analytics, customer escalations, field feedback, and market intelligence.

• Partner with Customer Support and Customer Success organizations to prioritize supportability initiatives that reduce customer effort and improve issue resolution.

• Present product strategy, roadmap progress, and business outcomes to executive leadership.

Build and Lead High-Performing Teams

• Recruit, mentor, and develop world-class Product Managers focused on platform and infrastructure services.

• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, technical excellence, and customer obsession.

• Establish scalable product management processes, planning mechanisms, and operating rhythms.

• Coach teams to make data-driven decisions and deliver measurable customer value.

Partner Across the Business

• Collaborate closely with Engineering leadership on architecture investments, platform modernization, and execution planning.

• Work with Customer Support and Services teams to improve platform observability, diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and operational efficiency.

• Drive alignment among Product, Engineering, Support, Customer Success, Finance, and GTM organizations.

• Represent Product Management during executive reviews, strategic planning sessions, and customer engagements.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

• 15+ years of Product Management experience in enterprise software, storage, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data management, or related technology domains.

• 7+ years leading and developing Product Management teams, including senior product managers and technical product leaders.

• Proven track record of defining platform strategies and delivering market-leading infrastructure products.

• Experience managing highly technical product portfolios with significant customer and business impact.

• Demonstrated success partnering with engineering teams to deliver large-scale distributed systems and enterprise platform capabilities.

• Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

• Experience influencing long-term product investments and organizational strategy.

Technical & Domain Expertise

• Deep expertise in Data Access Layer architectures, metadata services, distributed storage platforms, and large-scale data management systems.

• Strong understanding of enterprise file systems, NAS technologies, file services, and data access protocols.

• Exposure AI/ML technologies, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI-powered enterprise applications.

• Understanding how AI can enhance data management platforms through intelligent search, automation, metadata enrichment, observability, anomaly detection, and operational insights.

• Experience with SmartFiles, structured and unstructured data management, data services, and platform-scale storage architectures.

• Strong knowledge of platform supportability initiatives, observability frameworks, diagnostics, telemetry, logging, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.

• Familiarity with distributed systems design, scalability, performance engineering, and infrastructure services.

• Understanding of cloud-native architectures, SaaS platforms, hybrid cloud deployments, and modern software development practices.

• Ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs and guide strategic technology decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or managing products in enterprise storage, backup, data protection, file systems, hyperconverged infrastructure, or cloud data platforms.

• Familiarity with AI-driven operations (AIOps), platform analytics, and intelligent automation frameworks.

• Experience working with large-scale enterprise customers and resolving complex platform and operational challenges.

• Understanding of observability technologies, reliability engineering, and customer experience improvement programs.

Disclosure Pursuant to Applicable State Equal Pay Transparency Laws - This position has a starting pay range as listed below. Actual salary depends upon many factors, including a candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, location, and salary expectations, and therefore a starting salary at the low end, high end, or even above the stated range may be offered. This position may also be eligible for bonus compensation, commission (if in a sales function), and/or equity grants. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits framework, including health and wellness benefits, vacation, paid holidays and refresh days, 401(k) retirement plan, life and disability insurance coverages, and other benefits the Company may offer from time to time.

Pay Range :

$263,700.00-$293,000.00

The compensation noted above is based on an annualized hourly rate assuming normal full-time employment.
