Mobile Diesel & Trailer Mechanic II - 2nd shift

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II This is a 2nd shift position (2 PM–12 AM, weekend coverage Friday‑Monday). The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, and diagnostic work under the supervision of a senior technician. The role requires learning and applying advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills while maintaining high performance metrics and compliance with company policies. Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck components, using handheld computers and pressure gauges. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to identify malfunctions. Road test vehicles to ensure proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment to generate solutions. Manage parts inventory, reconcile company‑issued service truck equipment, and maintain daily safety checks. Work independently, prioritize tasks, and schedule daily activities. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application and upload photos of work performed. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly. Maintain a high level of productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors and communicate with management for repair approvals and purchase order numbers. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combinations such as a degree/certification and 5 years of experience). Possess hand tools required to perform duties. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining). Be at least 21 years old. Hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File (Class C license required).
