Director of Field Operations

Field Superintendent — High-End Residential Construction Stillman Properties · Charlotte, NC About the Role Stillman Properties builds high-end custom and spec homes throughout the Charlotte area, and we're looking for a seasoned Field Superintendent to own day-to-day field operations. This is a senior, in-the-dirt leadership role for someone who has run complex custom residential jobs, knows how to hold a schedule and a budget, and can keep subs, inspectors, and crews moving without constant oversight. You'll be the person responsible for what happens on site — quality, safety, sequence, and pace. You'll work directly alongside the Owner and Project Manager as a peer on the team — not through layers of management. This is a role with real autonomy and direct access to ownership, for someone ready to run the field and be trusted to do it. Location: Charlotte, NC Reports to / works with: Owner and Project Manager Compensation: Competitive, based on experience What You'll Do Run daily field operations across active builds, from sitework through final punch Own the project schedule in the field — sequencing trades, anticipating bottlenecks, and keeping jobs on or ahead of timeline Manage and coordinate subcontractors and vendors, holding them to quality and schedule expectations Oversee sitework, grading, and survey layout; read and verify against site plans and grading plans Operate small-to-medium machinery as needed to keep work moving Run quality control to a high-end finish standard — the details that separate custom from production Enforce job-site safety and maintain a clean, organized site Document daily progress, issues, and changes in JobTread, including daily logs, photos, schedules, and reporting Communicate field status clearly and proactively to ownership and the Project Manager What You Bring 10+ years of hands-on field experience in residential construction, with a strong track record in high-end / custom homes Deep working knowledge of sitework, grading, and surveying Ability to operate small-to-medium machinery competently and safely Proven ability to run multiple trades and hold a schedule Tech-proficient and comfortable on a computer, tablet, and phone — able to learn and fully use JobTread (or comparable construction management software) for scheduling, daily logs, and reporting Sharp eye for quality and finish detail Strong leadership presence with subs and crews; firm, organized, and respected Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Nice to Have Experience taking custom homes from raw land through certificate of occupancy Familiarity with Charlotte-area jurisdictions, inspectors, and the permitting/inspection rhythm
