Program Director, Anesthesiology Residency

Sutter Health is seeking a Program Director for the Anesthesiology Residency Program at Memorial Medical Center Modesto. This leadership role involves directing all program operations, including resident recruitment, training, and retention, while ensuring compliance with ABIM, ACGME, and Sutter Health standards. The Program Director will also be instrumental in developing and implementing a new Anesthesiology Residency Program.

• The practice is comprised of 25+ highly trained, collegial, and close-knit group of partners.
• The practice handles a wide breadth and depth of surgical cases including general, orthopedics, trauma, neurosurgery, cardiac, thoracic, obstetrics, and plastics.
• There are ample opportunities for regional anesthesia, invasive lines, and participation in the care of complex surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Direct all operations of the Sutter Health Anesthesiology Residency Program and clinical patient care provided by residents and faculty.
• Develop and lead strategic plans for high-quality resident recruitment, training, and retention.
• Supervise faculty, residents, and administrative staff in matters of recruitment, performance evaluation, compensation, disciplinary action, and development.
• Lead all efforts to design and implement a new Anesthesiology Residency Program at Memorial Medical Center Modesto.
• Develop program structure, curriculum, and policies in alignment with ACGME requirements for Anesthesiology.
• Prepare and submit all documentation required for ACGME Initial Accreditation.
• Precept Residents (and Medical Students) in Anesthesiology, which can include inpatient (Memorial Medical Center Modesto), intensive care, and/or outpatient (clinic) settings.
• Provide direct patient care, which can include outpatient, inpatient, and intensive care settings.

Compensation

• $600,000 1-year guarantee (mix of clinical work and GME).
• Expected split would be 0.3 Program Director and 0.7 Anesthesia clinical work.
• Call stipend for clinical work is in addition to salary.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of documented educational and administrative experience in medical education.
• Documented educational and administrative experience acceptable to the ACGME Anesthesiology Review Committee.
• Actively involved in clinical care of patients.
• Knowledge of health care delivery and administration, as well as legal and ethical issues related to health care.
• Current California medical license and Board Certification in Anesthesiology.
• As required for appropriate clinical privileges.
