Senior Golang Engineer

Jumpspeak is building the next generation of language learning — helping millions of users speak confidently through real-time AI, conversational experiences, and speech technology. Unlike traditional language learning apps focused on memorization, Jumpspeak helps people learn languages by actually speaking them through AI-powered conversations, personalized lessons, and real-world practice. Were looking for a Senior Golang Backend Engineer to help us build faster, more reliable, and more intelligent systems as we scale globally. What Youll Do: Build and scale core backend systems: Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of our AI conversations, speech processing, lessons, subscriptions, and user state. Develop content ingestion pipelines: Build and optimize systems for importing, processing, validating, and managing large volumes of multilingual learning content and AI-generated lessons. Power personalized learning experiences: Design data architectures that capture learner progress, speech performance, recurring mistakes, and preferences to deliver increasingly personalized lessons and AI conversations. Integrate AI and third-party APIs: Build reliable integrations with LLMs, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, real-time voice technologies, and other external services. Improve backend reliability: Identify and eliminate race conditions, intermittent failures, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt. Optimize databases and infrastructure: Improve data storage, caching, asynchronous processing, and API performance to support millions of users. Build internal tools and automation: Develop systems that streamline content management, lesson ingestion, QA, and operational workflows. Enable rapid experimentation: Build scalable infrastructure that allows product and growth teams to launch, measure, and iterate on new features quickly. Strengthen engineering quality: Improve observability, automated testing, monitoring, and deployment safety. What Were Looking For 7+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Golang. Proven experience designing and scaling production backend systems serving large user bases. Strong understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs, concurrency, and event-driven architectures. Experience with PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, caching systems (e.g., Redis), and message queues. Experience designing data pipelines, ETL workflows, or high-volume content ingestion systems. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and CI/CD. Experience integrating third-party APIs, handling asynchronous workflows, retries, rate limits, and error recovery. Strong debugging skills and a track record of improving system performance, stability, and reliability. AI-native engineering mindset: You actively leverage AI development tools such as ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot to ship high-quality software faster. Comfortable working independently, taking ownership, and moving quickly in a fast-paced startup environment. Nice to Have Experience with AI/LLM APIs, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, or real-time voice applications. Experience building personalized recommendation systems or adaptive learning platforms. Experience with content management systems, automated content generation, or multilingual data pipelines. Previous experience with B2C subscription apps or high-scale consumer products. Familiarity with experimentation frameworks, feature flags, and A/B testing infrastructure. Why Join Jumpspeak? Real-world impact: Your work will directly improve how millions of people learn and communicate in new languages. AI-first product: Work at the intersection of generative AI, real-time speech technology, and personalized education. Ownership and autonomy: Take responsibility for critical backend systems and influence major architectural decisions. Fast execution: Work with a lean, ambitious team where great ideas can move into production quickly. Global scale: Solve complex engineering challenges involving multilingual content, high-volume APIs, and millions of learners. Your work will directly impact speech reliability, personalized learning outcomes, user retention, product experimentation, and revenue growth. How to Apply Please include: Relevant Golang projects: Examples of production systems youve built, scaled, or optimized, including your specific contributions. GitHub or portfolio: Links to relevant code, technical projects, or engineering work. Relevant experience: Briefly describe your experience with high-scale backend systems, content pipelines, or AI API integrations. Availability: Your earliest possible start date and weekly availability. Were looking for someone who doesnt just write backend code, but takes ownership of complex problems and builds scalable systems that make the entire product better.
