Unpaid Interns Fall 2026

Overview The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking organized, detail-oriented individuals for internship positions within the Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem Vicinage. Interns will work in Judge's Chambers or one of our Divisions (Civil, Criminal, Family, Probation, IT and Operations), gaining hands‑on experience in case processing and the judicial system. Internship Locations Cumberland County – Bridgeton, NJ 08302 Gloucester County – Woodbury, NJ 08096 Salem County – Salem, NJ 08079 Responsibilities Assist with answering phones, returning calls, and distributing voicemails Contact and follow up with applicants and members of the public Perform special projects, research, and analysis Enter and manage data, draft correspondence and memos, and organize electronic filings Attend community planning meetings and provide customer service Support staff and perform additional duties as directed Divisional Responsibilities Prepared filings for judge and staff review, including document retrieval and delivery to chambers Conduct research and analyze data Draft memoranda and legal documents Participate in team projects Perform data entry and filing tasks Observe legal proceedings Manage calendars and moderate virtual hearings Judge's Chambers Responsibilities Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Judges, Judiciary employees, legal professionals, and the public Prepare filings and documents for the judge and staff review Conduct research and analyze data Draft memoranda and prepare legal paperwork Data entry, filing, and calendar management Observe and participate in legal proceedings Qualifications Undergraduate students attending an accredited college or university Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams Flexible hours for the Fall 2026 semester (tentatively September to December) Physical Ability Must be able to lift, carry, and move supplies weighing between 30 and 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Ability to perform tasks requiring climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending, and reaching may be required. Driver's License Required if vehicle operation is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Authorization to Work US citizenship is not required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US in accordance with Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
