Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager The Department of Transportation is seeking a dedicated Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager to guide roadway maintenance projects across the region and support important highway operations that keep communities safe and connected. Responsibilities Project Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for roadway maintenance and seasonal operations. Crew Supervision: Oversee maintenance crews, assign tasks, monitor work, and support performance evaluations. Operational Management: Review resource needs, manage materials and equipment, and guide emergency response efforts. Field Oversight: Conduct inspections, review work quality, and coordinate contract construction and maintenance activities. Stakeholder Coordination: Meet with local officials and partner organizations to discuss priorities and address area needs. Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment. Work hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. No telework option. Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases. Qualifications One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (or equivalent). Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects. An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements Valid Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent. Other Requirements Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement. Must be able to perform essential job functions.
