Location: Hybrid in San Diego, California. Our team works in the office Tuesday and Thursday, with remote work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Employees also enjoy flexible start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

Note: Candidates must have 2+ years of directly relevant mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience and hands on experience with HVAC and mechanical systems for building projects.

Job Description

\n

\n
• Design HVAC and mechanical systems for residential and commercial building projects
\n
• Support projects from conceptual design and system selection through construction documentation and construction administration
\n
• Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, and mechanical system design
\n
• Develop ductwork, ventilation, piping, and related mechanical system layouts
\n
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, and supporting design documentation
\n
• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, plumbing, architectural, structural, and other project disciplines
\n
• Participate in client meetings and communicate technical recommendations clearly
\n
• Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions and observe construction progress
\n
• Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and assist with construction phase engineering support
\n
• Apply applicable California building, mechanical, energy, and sustainability requirements to project designs
\n
• Work collaboratively with engineers and designers to deliver accurate, cost effective, constructible solutions

Qualifications

\n

\n
• 2+ years of mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience
\n
• Hands on experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for buildings
\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline preferred
\n
• Experience with commercial, residential, institutional, or similar building projects preferred
\n
• Familiarity with California mechanical and energy codes, including Title 24, is preferred
\n
• Experience preparing construction documents and coordinating across multiple disciplines
\n
• AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred
\n
• Strong technical, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills
\n
• Ability to attend client meetings and visit project sites as needed
