COMPANION

COMPANION Position Summary The Companion provides non-medical supervision, socialization, and supportive assistance to consumers who may otherwise be isolated or require someone to remain with them for safety and companionship. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy helping older adults and building positive relationships. Primary Responsibilities ? Provide friendly companionship ? Engage consumers in conversation ? Provide social interaction and emotional support ? Participate in approved recreational activities ? Read, play games, take walks, or participate in hobbies with the consumer ? Encourage safe social participation and independence ? Provide supervision according to the consumer?s service plan ? Accompany consumers on approved errands or activities when authorized ? Assist with organizing and decluttering when included in the service plan ? Assist with limited light household tasks when authorized ? Observe and report safety concerns or changes in the consumer ? Maintain confidentiality ? Complete required documentation and EVV ? Follow MetroCare policies and the consumer?s service plan Qualifications ? Previous caregiving experience helpful but not always required ? Compassionate and caring personality ? Enjoys working with older adults and individuals with disabilities ? Strong communication and listening skills ? Patient, respectful, and dependable ? Ability to maintain professional boundaries ? Ability to follow instructions and a service plan ? Reliable attendance ? Reliable transportation preferred ? Smartphone access for scheduling/EVV when applicable ? Successful completion of required MetroCare orientation and screening Schedule Flexible opportunities may include: ? Part-time ? Per diem ? Weekdays ? Weekends ? Morning ? Afternoon ? Evening This position may be appropriate for candidates looking for flexible supplemental hours. Pay Rate $18- $19 per hour
