Engineering Project Manager 3

Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 500 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $98,000 - $147,00/annual - Based on skills and experience

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer (IPT Lead) to join our Mechanical New Product Introduction (NPI) Team to support Mechanical product design and development. This person will demonstrate the ability to execute successful product development programs for new or modified product on schedule and within budget from initial concept design through production transition.

• Effectively lead an integrated product team in the development of new products
• Communicate with the customer on technical and project management related topics
• Prepare component specifications, test procedures, and test reports
• Prepare compliance matrices against customer specifications
• Prepare and present product design reviews to internal and external customers
• Provide oversight and direction of mechanical test activities (setup and testing)
• Organize team level RCCA activities to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical products, including hydromechanical controls and/or thermal systems
• Review/monitor schedule and budget commitments and communicate risks to management
• Ensure new product development procedures are adhered to and that recommendations for continuous improvement and lessons learned are documented
• Support Operations to ensure that engineered product meets financial objectives through implementation of acceptance test and build standards that align with Design to Cost (DTC) objectives
• Identify process and product improvements (new products and legacy products) and implement changes
• Multi-task, execute cross-functional activities, and drive projects to successfully meet key milestones
• Foster good working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal departments

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; PMP certification, MS or MBA degree a plus
• Five years minimum experience in a project engineering role for aerospace or military mechanical products
• Mechanical design aptitude with a basic understanding of modern mechanical design practices (bolted joints, o-ring glands, plain bearings, roller element bearings, shafts, splines, external gear pumps, poppet valves, spool valves, etc.)
• Hands-on mechanical product assembly, inspection and/or testing experience
• Ability to read and understand detailed-part and assembly drawings (including GD&T)
• Familiarity with structural analysis including FMEA and basic hand calculations
• Familiarity with technical writing practices. Ability to structure a clear and concise technical document.
• Understanding of project budgets, earned value metrics, schedules, and resource planning
• Experience working in product development teams and coordinating resources necessary for successful program execution.
• Positive attitude open to different perspectives and opinions. Willingness to compromise on personal wants/needs to the benefit of the team and project.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
