Pay: $20.00–$23.00
Schedule: Full-Time | Days | 11:00 AM–7:00 PM
8-week assignment with potential to extend and convert to permanent
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Cook to join a Nutrition Services team in a healthcare setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled cook with hospital, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or similar healthcare experience who is looking for a stable role with potential for permanent employment .
What You’ll Do
- Prepare high-quality meals for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Follow standardized recipes, menus, portion guidelines, and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Organize daily food preparation and production to ensure meals are served on time.
- Monitor food temperatures, quality, storage, and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized commercial kitchen.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.
- Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Work closely with Nutrition Services, dietitians, dietary leadership, and clinical staff.
- Assist with training and orienting new team members as needed.
- Support department quality improvement initiatives and promote efficient use of food and kitchen resources.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of cooking experience in a healthcare environment such as a hospital, rehabilitation facility, skilled nursing facility, or similar setting.
- ServSafe Certification – Required.
- Experience preparing meals according to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Experience working with therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and maintain consistent quality and portion control.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced institutional or healthcare kitchen.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to read, write, and speak English.
