RFB Construction Co, Inc. – Pittsburg, KS Full-Time | Hourly About This Role RFB Construction is a fast-growing, family-oriented civil highway construction and hauling company in Pittsburg, KS. We are seeking an independent, highly skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to take total ownership of our heavy equipment division. You will manage your own department and workspace, working hand-in-hand with our light-duty mechanic as a powerhouse team to keep our entire fleet moving. We provide a solid shop, an independent workflow, and an environment that genuinely respects the craft. What You’ll Do Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, yellow iron, complex hydraulics, and air systems. Partner directly with our light-duty mechanic to coordinate shop flow and prioritize field breakdowns. Keep your bay, inventory, and specialty tools clean, organized, and running efficiently to your own professional standards. Maintain clean records of repairs and preventative maintenance (PM) schedules using our fleet software. Handle your own parts sourcing and heavy machinery vendor relationships to ensure quality and cost control. What You Bring Experience: 5+ years of heavy diesel repair and advanced diagnostics (construction, earthmoving, or heavy hauling equipment preferred). Self-Sufficiency: Ability to see what needs to be done, prioritize based on field demands, and execute seamlessly on your own. Tools: Own a well-stocked set of professional tools for heavy-duty jobs. Tech Savvy: Comfortable tracking and logging repairs on tablet/computer-based fleet programs. Requirements: Valid driver’s license (CDL is a major plus). Ability to lift 70 lbs safely.
