Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Urgent Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Varies Hours per Shift: 8am - 8pm Experience: Minimum of 2 years in urgent care License: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in the state of Alaska Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must-Have: Active Alaska license at time of submission, urgent care experience within the last 2 years Description: This position functions within the Urgent Care Department to assist patients and medical staff within the ambulatory care setting. Responsibilities include the overall operation of the clinic. Maintain skill sets, annual competencies, certifications, and participate in in-service and educational programs within the Clinic as assigned. Complete all mandatory training and attend staff meetings. Adhere to infection control policy and procedures. Maintain a clean and safe working environment including adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment. Report any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards. Refer unresolved problems with patients, coworkers, and visitors to the department manager for resolution. Address employee concerns consistent with Human Resources policy. Provide clinical services while working with providers and clinic staff to ensure excellent quality of care. Ensure efficient utilization of resources and compliance with standards. Provide leadership and direction to clinic staff for efficient clinic operations. Maintain medication inventory and supplies not on the Warehouse PAR system. Conduct necessary quality control checks with Point of Care tests. Document all care and services provided in a clear and correct manner. Complete nursing duties professionally and in a timely manner. Assist providers and other staff as needed, anticipating their needs for efficient patient care. Communicate effectively with other departments to be a resource for patients and staff. Knowledge of the nursing process is essential and should be applied in the working environment. Familiarity with customer service principles and safety/infection control principles is required. Skills necessary include completing assessments and specimen collection. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential. Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment is important. Being a team player is crucial, as is the willingness to teach and ask for help when needed. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are required to develop and maintain good working relations. The role requires the physical ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, handle equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
