You will bring a high level of expertise and work alongside a motivated team to provide first‑class service to our patients. This day‑shift position is primarily pediatric oncology unit‑based, offering decentralized clinical services such as order verification, medication review, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dosing, and more. You may also assist with pediatric satellite/centralized staffing as needed. You will be comfortable in multiple roles within the pharmacy department and will have the opportunity to precept pharmacy residents and students, overseeing their training and providing timely evaluations. Pediatric oncology experience is strongly preferred. The position is a day shift — Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. Hire on Incentive up to $10,000 is available, as well as a $5,000 relocation incentive. Position Summary This position actively participates on the healthcare team as a pharmacotherapy expert to provide quality patient care in specialty areas. Responsibilities include selecting optimal drug therapy, designing regimens to maximize therapeutic benefit and minimize toxicity, evaluating and documenting pharmaceutical care, conducting educational activities, applying performance improvement principles, and participating in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group activities. This role oversees pharmacy technicians, coordinating workflow and ensuring accurate medication checks prior to dispensing, while adhering to local, state, and federal laws governing pharmacy practice. Core Functions Critically evaluates disease‑state management, adjusts or recommends adjustments to therapy to improve patient medication regimens, ensures appropriate and cost‑effective medication therapy. Areas of focus may include evaluating disease state management, medication management, and adverse drug reactions. Adheres to all clinical practices approved by Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group (e.g., collaborative practice agreements) and accurately documents patient data and interventions. Serves as the drug information expert in the specialty area, providing detailed drug information and education to the healthcare team, pharmacy staff, patients, and community. Provides education for pharmacy staff, students, and residents where applicable. Reviews and evaluates medication orders for appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data including age, height, weight, diagnosis, allergy, laboratory values, and other pertinent patient information. Complies with directives of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group (e.g., therapeutic substitutions, formulary management). Applies principles of continuous quality improvement and incorporates them into other activities and facility/system‑based projects, including data collection, documentation, and medication error/adverse drug event trending. Participates in drug‑use evaluations and facility‑level medication safety oversight. Participates in local and system‑based committees and effectively communicates to stakeholders. Helps develop innovative drug‑related patient care practices at institutional and system levels. Serves as a resource and mentor to other pharmacists, students, residents, and other healthcare providers. Meets ASHP preceptor qualifications; serves as primary preceptor to residents where applicable and may serve as Program Director for the institution’s Pharmacy Practice Residency Program. Acts as educator, resource expert, and mentor to pharmacists and other providers. Minimum Qualifications A Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) and completion of a PGY1 residency program; or without residency training a minimum of 3 years of health‑system progressive clinical pharmacy experience (e.g., thromboembolic disorders, diabetes, oncology, pharmacokinetics, pain management, nutrition, and investigational studies). Additional qualifications include board certification through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BCPS, BCOP, etc.) with active status. Candidates not board certified will have 24 months to achieve certification. Must hold an active pharmacist license in the state of practice and meet all licensing requirements within 30–90 days of hire. May be required to possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for company auto insurance. Arizona pharmacists must provide an Arizona Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at hire, and a felony‑free K‑12 license (possible fingerprint clearance card and criminal history affidavit) if working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital. Must be proficient with medication management software, pharmacy systems, Microsoft applications, and automated dispensing systems. Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills are required. Preferred Qualifications Completion of a PGY2 residency or PGY1 residency plus a minimum of 3 years of health‑system experience; board certification in the appropriate specialty area; expert knowledge of principles, practices, and operations in the assigned area of responsibility.
