Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role involves safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, store, and prepare inventory within a warehouse environment. You will handle incoming and outgoing shipments, maintain accurate inventory records, and follow all safety procedures and company policies while working as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down forklifts to transport materials safely throughout the warehouse.
• Receive and inspect incoming shipments to verify quantity and quality.
• Unload trucks and move inventory to designated storage areas using forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Pick and stage materials for packaging and shipping according to order requirements.
• Use RF scanners to locate, pick, and track inventory accurately.
• Perform packing and shipping tasks, ensuring orders are prepared correctly and on time.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies promptly.
• Handle material loading, unloading, and movement while following established procedures.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, equipment operating standards, and company policies.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment as part of a team.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate daily workflow.
• Contribute to an engaged, positive workplace culture by supporting team goals.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of recent forklift operating experience, including having operated a forklift within the last year.
• Proven experience as a forklift operator or material handler in a warehouse or similar setting.
• Valid forklift certification.
• Proficiency in operating sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Experience with material handling, picking, packing, shipping, and unloading tasks.
• Ability to use RF scanners for inventory tracking and order picking.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations, processes, and safety practices.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse environment that supports large-scale operations and automotive-related distribution. You will work around forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, using RF scanners and standard warehouse tools to manage inventory and shipments. The setting is fast-paced and physically active, requiring frequent lifting, moving, and standing throughout the shift. Safety procedures are well-defined and strictly followed, and the culture emphasizes engagement, teamwork, and clear communication among all warehouse staff.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sellersburg, IN.

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $17.25/hr.
