House | Property Manager - Full-Time Atherton, CA

Our lovely client, a private family based in Atherton, CA, is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented House | Property Manager to help run their home and property day to day. This isn't a role that operates from a distance; the ideal candidate is genuinely involved in the details, managing vendors, keeping household inventory well-stocked, running errands as needed, and pitching in to help with events and hosting. The family is looking for a real partner, someone with a true support mentality who takes ownership of the small things that keep a home running well, not just the big picture.

The ideal candidate has a strong, established network of trusted local vendors and is comfortable walking the property inside and out, checking in on the details, and catching things before they become problems. This person should be comfortable working autonomously, with a weekly touchpoint to align on priorities, and genuinely proactive, someone who anticipates what needs attention rather than waiting to be told. While the schedule offers some flexibility, blending in-person and remote time, this is fundamentally a hands-on role, and the family is looking for someone who shows up ready to help wherever it's needed. An Executive Housekeeper reports directly to this position, and there's real room to grow in scope as trust builds over time.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day property operations, serving as the primary point of contact for the household
• Source, coordinate, and manage trusted vendors (gardening, pool service, window washing, gutter cleaning, and other maintenance needs)
• Oversee maintenance of home systems and equipment (ex:elevator and boiler upkeep)
• Conduct regular property walk-throughs, inside and out, to proactively identify and address issues
• Manage household inventory and organization
• Organize pet appointments and coordinate related care
• Support entertaining and events, including organizing dinner parties and managing service staff
• Provide light support with travel arrangements, appointments, and reservations
• Oversee vendor access and safety during larger projects or installations
• Manage the Executive Housekeeper, ensuring alignment on weekly priorities and standards
• Be open to travel should the role evolve

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a House or Estate Manager in a private home
• Strong, established network of reliable local vendors
• Highly detail-oriented, with the judgment to notice what needs attention before being asked
• Proactive and autonomous, while also receptive to feedback and able to apply it without repeated reminders
• Easygoing, calm, kind, and even-tempered in demeanor
• Comfortable managing household staff, including oversight of an Executive Housekeeper
• Strong organizational and vendor management skills
• Comfortable around pets (2 cats and a dog; no cat allergies)
• Open to occasional travel in the future, as the role evolves
• Seeking a long-term, stable position with room to grow in scope over time
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Within a commutable distance to the Peninsula; no out of area candidates
• Able to undergo and pass a detailed background check and provide strong employment references

Compensation & Benefits

• $165,000+ per year base salary | depending on experience
