Home Infusion Compounding Technician

The pharmacy compounding technician aids in the compounding of sterile preparations and the organization of patient supplies and equipment under pharmacist supervision.

Directly supervised by the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC).

Responsibilities of the Home Infusion Compounding Technician include:

• Perform sterile compounding according to USP 797 standards.
• Adhere to all SOPs, USP 797 guidelines, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of all work areas and equipment per USP 797 and SOPs.
• Keep up-to-date with sterile compounding competencies.
• Ensure all pharmacy-prepared drugs are appropriately labeled and stored.
• Monitor and document daily environmental conditions, such as temperatures and humidity.
• Maintain On Track Task Logs daily.
• Manage timely refills to prevent treatment interruptions.
• Upload delivery tickets into Care Tend system.
• Conduct patient follow-up calls and document thoroughly.
• Order medication to maintain inventory and patient needs.
• Input supplies into Vital Systems inventory system.
• Properly store drugs and supplies for safety and organization.
• Regularly inspect and reorder supplies to prevent shortages.
• Conduct monthly inventory checks of ambulatory infusion suite supplies.
• Report any misconduct or unethical activities to Human Resources.
• Build positive relationships with clients and provide proactive support.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, patients, and referral sources.
• Assist with quality control and performance improvement as directed.
• Report product incidents as required.
• Collaborate with team members to complete tasks.
• Complete other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Meet all State Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Completion of pharmacy technician training preferred.
• Experience in compounding or healthcare setting preferred.
• Registered with the State Board of Pharmacy if applicable.

Physical Requirements:

• Stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear regularly.
• Use hands to operate office equipment and vehicles.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Have specific vision abilities for this job.
