Position Overview

A rapidly growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee field operations for industrial and commercial construction projects throughout the United States. This position is responsible for leading onsite execution activities, coordinating subcontractors and field personnel, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered according to schedule and contract requirements.

The Superintendent will serve as the primary onsite leader and work closely with Project Management teams to support successful project delivery across multiple regions and project types.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily field operations including manpower coordination, subcontractor oversight, and construction sequencing activities.
• Lead onsite construction efforts to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules.
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, submittals, and project documents for field execution.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors to maintain alignment between project objectives and field activities.
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules and assist in implementing recovery plans when required.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and field safety documentation activities.
• Enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety procedures.
• Monitor construction quality and verify installation compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Manage subcontractor productivity, workmanship, manpower levels, and overall performance onsite.
• Coordinate material deliveries, equipment utilization, and jobsite logistics to support efficient construction operations.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress updates, and field documentation.
• Identify potential schedule delays, field conflicts, or operational risks and proactively implement corrective actions.
• Ensure jobsites remain organized, professional, and compliant with safety and operational standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of field leadership experience in a Superintendent, Lead Foreman, or similar construction leadership role.
• Experience supporting industrial and/or commercial construction projects.
• Hands-on experience with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), structural steel erection, or related building systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret civil, structural, architectural, and MEP drawings/specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general construction scheduling tools.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively and remain onsite for project durations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background supporting renewable energy, utility infrastructure, manufacturing, or other heavy industrial projects.
• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent construction safety training.
• Experience managing remote project sites and geographically dispersed crews.
• Familiarity with fast-paced or multi-state construction operations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work extended shifts in active construction environments.
• Frequent walking, climbing, standing, and navigating uneven terrain.
• Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.

Work Environment

This position is field-based and requires frequent travel to active construction projects across the continental United States. Work is primarily performed outdoors on construction sites and may involve extended onsite assignments. Travel accommodations and per diem are provided in accordance with company policy.
