Job Title: Float Surgical Coordinator

Location: Newton, MA 02462 (100% On-Site)

Position Type: Temp-to-Perm (6-Month Initial Contract)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week, 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $28.00/hour (Depending on experience)

Work Environment Details: Free parking available after a one-time $15 registration fee.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Float Surgical Coordinator to provide high-level cross-coverage for surgical scheduling across 10 surgical specialties, including Thoracic, Colorectal, Plastic/Reconstructive, Wound/Ostomy, Acute Care, Vascular, Endocrine, Breast, Bariatric, and General Surgery.

This vital administrative role supports surgical operations and outpatient practices, serving as a primary point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and clinical staff to ensure an exceptional patient experience and seamless operational workflow.

Responsibilities

• Surgical & Clinic Scheduling: Coordinate surgical procedures, schedule patient appointments, and manage multi-specialty scheduling across 10 surgical departments.
• Patient & Administrative Support: Perform front-desk, reception, and core administrative duties. Answer and triage incoming calls, relay messages, and provide routine practice information.
• Authorizations & Verification: Manage referrals, insurance verifications, prior authorizations, and coordinate specialty testing.
• Provider Assistance: Support surgical providers with calendar management, meetings, travel arrangements, and expense reconciliations.
• Documentation & Records: Prepare, review, and maintain departmental reports, presentations, and correspondence. Organize and maintain both physical and electronic records.
• Operations & IT Coordination: Oversee office supply inventory, manage equipment maintenance requests, and coordinate IT support.
• Special Projects: Assist with departmental initiatives, monitor project timelines, and support event planning as needed.
