Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Survey CAD Technician to join our dynamic surveying team. In this role, you will be instrumental in translating field survey data into precise, professional CAD drawings and models that support a wide range of civil engineering, land development, and construction projects. Your expertise in survey data collection, drafting, and CAD software will help ensure project accuracy and efficiency from initial site analysis to final design implementation. Duties

• Convert raw survey data collected from total stations, GPS systems, LiDAR, and other field equipment into accurate CAD drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, and Carlson software.

• Prepare detailed schematics, topographic maps, ALTA surveys, construction layout plans, and legal descriptions for various projects.

• Operate surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (including Trimble GNSS), laser scanners (3D scanners), and LiDAR sensors to gather precise field data.

• Perform construction staking and layout surveys to guide contractors during project execution.

• Conduct utility locating and land surveying tasks including topographic surveys, boundary determination, and geospatial data collection using GIS tools like ArcGIS.

• Analyze survey data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications; perform data analysis and quality control checks.

• Assist in drafting detailed construction schematics and schematics for infrastructure projects while adhering to industry standards.

• Support field surveying activities by operating hand tools and heavy lifting equipment when necessary; ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with land surveying techniques including topographic surveys, construction layout surveys, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions.

• Strong proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, Carlson, and GIS platforms like ArcGIS.

• Knowledge of surveying equipment operation including total stations, GPS/GNSS (Trimble GNSS systems), laser scanners (LiDAR), level instruments, and data collection tools.

• Familiarity with survey data analysis methods involving trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math fundamentals to ensure precision in mapping and drafting tasks.

• Ability to interpret schematics, construction plans, technical drawings, and schematics accurately.

• Experience with construction staking and layout surveys on various project types; understanding of construction processes is a plus.

• Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills for managing large datasets efficiently.

• Physical capability for fieldwork involving hand tools and heavy lifting; comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.

• Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, contractors, clients, and team members.
