Advanced Practice Provider

We are looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to work in the UNC Lymphoma Program. The principal responsibility of the APP is to contribute to the care of patients with Hodgkin lymphoma, non‑Hodgkin lymphoma, and CLL within our outpatient lymphoma clinics. The APP will also be a part of the Hematology APP group providing procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and skin biopsies. Summary A Physician Assistant functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high‑quality, cost‑effective care within the APP scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, and implements treatment plans including prescribing or ordering evidence‑based pharmacologic agents. Provides preventive health screening, maintains clear records of patient care, performs medical procedures consistent with departmental guidelines, prioritizes work for efficient client flow, and leads or participates in projects to improve productivity. Education: Educates clients, families, and colleagues regarding medical conditions and treatment plans; develops educational materials; provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and students; attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Leadership: Provides instruction and precepting to physicians, housestaff, nursing, and students, participates in community/network outreach, demonstrates understanding of the healthcare context and improves delivery of care, leads or participates in system improvements. Professional: Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous, and timely manner; collaborates with coworkers; resolves customer needs and problems efficiently; shares responsibility for workload and outcomes. Quality/Research: Engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management on clinical issues, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates or revises protocols, and develops new clinical programs to improve patient care. Other Information Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration required. Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements: Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful patient care in the clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
