Industrial Hose Assembly Technician

Nearly a century after Alfred Fain opened a small Rhode Island tire shop, Teknor Apex has grown into a global custom compounder with nine U.S. sites and operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China. You arrive to a team huddle where safety and production priorities are set. You review the production schedule, confirm your finishing table assignment, and scan the Batch Card to verify the exact raw materials required for the hose run. You set the Automatic Counter for the specified lengths, then move to the cutter—pressing the pedal to advance hose for precision cutting. At the expander station, you mount the correct fittings, assemble the hose and fittings, and use the expander’s foot pedal to secure a consistent, quality fit—repeating the cycle as production targets demand.

When it’s time to finish, you feed the male end of the hose into the winding machine, coil neatly, attach labels, and secure each coil with straps or wire ties. You complete a visual inspection, assemble cartons, apply the side label, and place the coil into the carton and/or onto the belt conveyor. You repeat until the carton holds the designated quantity and then slide it onto the conveyor for downstream processing.

• Full-time, on-site role in a collaborative, team-based manufacturing environment where dependable, regular attendance is essential to team safety and performance.
• Mandatory overtime may be required based on business needs; production areas must be staffed for safety and may extend beyond scheduled shifts or require additional hours.
• Accurately check schedules, Batch Cards, and equipment settings to ensure correct materials and hose lengths.
• Operate cutter and expander machines using foot pedals; install correct fittings and assemble hose to specification.
• Winding, coiling, labeling, strapping/wire-tying, carton assembly, side labeling, and conveyor placement for finished coils.
• Maintain precise daily production records and consistently meet established productivity standards.
• Execute quality checks (including length checks) and identify quality issues promptly.
• Prepare samples and orders; print carton labels using a computerized label printer and supply labels to assemblers.
• Provide finishing tables with unassembled cartons and other operational supplies as needed.
• Make sound operational decisions that maintain production levels; perform related duties as required or directed.
• Understand quality parameters for customer return orders and help train teammates on processes and procedures.

• Ability to recognize quality problems and follow safety policies and procedures.
• Comfort operating in a self-directed environment; complete tasks thoroughly and on time.
• Reading and writing skills typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent.

• Stand for extended periods; squat, bend, twist, and turn as needed.
• Strong manual and mechanical dexterity to perform assembly tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
