About the Position

Job Title: Travel RN - Med/Surg Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital Med/Surg experience License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS Required; CRRN Preferred Must-Have: Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Minimum 1 year of current acute care hospital Med/Surg experience. BLS certification. Description: This position involves working as a Travel RN in the Med/Surg specialty. The unit has 41 beds with a current staff of over 60 nursing professionals. Staffing includes 4 RNs and 5 LPNs on the day shift and 4 RNs and 4 LPNs on the night shift. The patient ratio is approximately 1:6. Equipment used on the unit includes patient lifts, iSTAT, glucometers, and wound vacs. Responsibilities include assisting in rehabilitation care plans established by an interdisciplinary team. The role requires performing lab draws, administering IV antibiotics and medications, and conducting head-to-toe assessments. Candidates are expected to have good communication skills, be empathetic, and advocate for patients. Enjoyment in educating patients and family members on care plans and rehabilitation programs is essential. Telemetry patients will be included, and candidates must pass telemetry competency. ACLS certification is a plus.
