Job Description
The Production Utility Specialist supports multiple departments on the production floor by performing a wide range of tasks in inventory, parts pulling, paint masking, shipping, logistics, and general labor. This role acts as a flexible production floater, helping to maintain efficient interdepartmental workflow, support shipping and receiving activities, and assist with various projects across the facility.
Responsibilities
- Act as a production floater between departments based on business needs, providing support in inventory, parts pulling, paint masking, shipping, logistics, and general labor functions.
- Assist with day-to-day production activities to ensure smooth interdepartmental workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Perform general shipping duties, including preparing units for shipment, weighing products, and packing a variety of items securely and accurately.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by staging, labeling, and organizing products according to shipping requirements.
- Support the paint and preparation area by assisting with masking, prepping units, and handling materials as needed.
- Assist in unloading incoming parts and materials, ensuring accurate placement of items within inventory locations.
- Participate in cycle counting of warehouse parts and help identify and correct inventory discrepancies.
- Pull parts from inventory in preparation for gearbox and motor assembly, ensuring accuracy and completeness of parts lists.
- Operate basic production and warehouse tools and equipment, including hand tools, tape measures, and relevant machinery, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Support various projects throughout the production floor, performing shop-floater duties and assisting where additional labor is required.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area to support a safe production environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience working in a production environment.
- Experience performing general labor tasks in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
- Basic machine operation skills relevant to production and warehouse activities.
- Ability to perform general shipping tasks, including preparation of units and weighing and packing a variety of products.
- Ability to pull parts from inventory accurately in preparation for gearbox and motor assembly.
- Strong attention to detail when handling inventory, shipments, and production tasks.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing priorities on the production floor.
- Previous experience in inventory control, including cycle counting and correcting inventory errors.
- Familiarity with shipping and logistics processes in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Experience working in a paint or prep area, including masking and preparing units for finishing.
- Comfort working across multiple departments and performing a variety of tasks throughout the day.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with production, warehouse, and shipping personnel.
- Reliable work ethic with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

Work Environment
This role is based in a production and warehouse facility in Charlotte, NC. You will work on your feet for extended periods, typically 8–12 hours per day, moving throughout the production floor and warehouse as needed. The environment includes standard manufacturing and warehouse conditions, such as exposure to machinery, moving equipment, and varying noise levels. You will regularly lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work involves frequent use of hand tools, tape measures, and basic production and warehouse equipment, as well as time spent in shipping, inventory, and paint/prep areas.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.72 - $20.72/hr.
