\nMunson Healthcare is seeking a Medical Director for Wound Care to oversee clinical operations, provide direct patient care, lead in the supervision of APPs, and help guide and direct the development and provisions of medical services. In this position, the Medical Director is responsible for the oversight of medical services rendered as well as the quality of wound care provided.

\nMedical Director Duties- Clinical (75%), Administrative (25%)
\n- \n
- Medical Supervision. The Physician shall provide overall medical supervision for the Program in conformance with the Health Systems policies and procedures applicable standards of The Joint Commission (TJC) and/or other agencies, and federal, state and local laws and regulations. Periodic medical reviews shall be conducted by the Physician to ensure compliance with the foregoing and with quality assurance and medical audit programs of the
\n Health System. \n - Clinical Advice and Supervision. The Health System shall consider the advice and recommendations of the Physician concerning the performance of all clinical procedures relating to the Program. The Physician shall have the responsibility, with approval from the appropriate administrative officers of the Health System, for the direction and supervision of the Program, and to assist in the determination of:\n
- \n
- The methods, means, and details for all procedures relating to the Program. \n
- The development and implementation of the Programs written policies, rules and regulations to govern the care and related medical and other health services provided to patients. The Physician shall see that these policies reflect an awareness of and provisions for meeting the total needs of the patient. \n
- The proper utilization of appropriate treatment for patients. \n
- The necessary materials and supplies to be used in the Program, with proper consideration given to both quality and cost effectiveness. \n
- The implementation of new clinical procedures and tests in the Program. \n
- The content material and subject matter of all reports of examinations and procedures relating to the Program. \n
- The qualifications, training, level of competence and degree of clinical skill required for the performance of clinical procedures relating to the Program by other physicians and the Hospitals employees. \n
- The appropriate equipment and instruments to be used in the Program. \n
- The direction of the Hospitals employees in the Program concerning the clinical practices and methods determined to be appropriate and necessary. \n
\n - Quality Assurance. As part of the Health Systems overall quality assurance program and activities, the Physician shall assist in establishing procedures to assure the consistency and quality of all services provided in the Program. The Physician shall participate in the Health Systems overall quality assurance and continuous quality improvement programs, in accordance with the Health Systems policies. The Physician shall ensure that all such quality assurance activities are appropriately documented. \n
- Consultations; Education; Compliance with Laws. The Physician shall be available at reasonable times for consultation with individual physicians, nursing, pharmacy and administrative employees of the Hospital who are involved with the Program and for the presentation of educational in?services. \n
- Program Activities. The Physician shall participate actively in the affairs of the Program, shall participate for reasonable periods of time in educational and teaching functions and presentations of the Program and shall perform such tasks and provide such reasonable services as the Health System may from time-to-time request. \n
- Budgets. The Physician shall participate in the capital and operating budget process for the Program as needed. The budget and capital requests of the Program are subject to final approval of the Health System in its sole discretion. \n
- Representative/Liaison. The Physician shall work to develop and maintain a close working relationship with other physicians and the Hospital administrative staff to enhance quality of care, coordinate services and support the Program. The Physician shall also:\n
- \n
- Evaluate and assist in implementing the recommendations from the Health Systems committees; and \n
- Review written reports of surveys and inspections and make recommendations to the Health System; and \n
- Participate in staff meetings which include meetings such as medical staff and quality assurance; and \n
- Serve as the liaison with the State and local health departments. \n
\n - Administrative Procedures Recommendations. The Physician shall recommend to the designated administrative officers for approval regarding changes to the routine administrative procedures within the Program, including, but not limited to, scheduling of patients, billing procedures, and purchasing as a means of enhancing the operations of the Program. \n
- Health System Employee Recommendations. The Physician shall:\n
- \n
- Make recommendations concerning the adequacy and clinical competence of employees assigned to the Program and submit them to the designated administrative officers for review. \n
- Routinely review incident and accident reports and recommend corrective action. \n
- Issues concerning employees, including terms and conditions of employment, hiring, discipline and firing shall be resolved by the Health System. \n
\n - Strategic Planning. The Physician shall actively participate in the development and implementation of long?term strategic planning for the Program. \n
- Direct Contracting. The Physician shall work closely with the appropriate administrative officers of the Health System in the planning efforts toward positioning the Program for direct contracting arrangements. \n
- Marketing. The Physician agrees to participate in appropriate outreach and marketing activities on behalf of the Program, such as periodic presentations to other hospitals and community agencies as a means of explaining the Program. \n
- Resource Allocation/Clinical Outcomes. Physician agrees to participate in analyzing cost effectiveness and quality outcomes. This may include literature review, data analysis, creation of solutions, testing solutions and updating other physicians. Physician must be willing to be a resource analyst, teacher, coach and team player for the Health System on issues of cost containment and performance improvement. \n
In addition to the general duties identified above, Physician agrees to fulfill the following specific duties and responsibilities as the Medical Director of the Program:

- Clinical Support: \n
- \n
- Provide a high level of quality clinical care with dedicated time in the clinic for both AWC and HBOT services. \n
- Complete all documentation and coding on the date of service using EHR, complying with all governmental and private payor regulations. \n
- Participate in the initial and ongoing clinical education programs, including clinical peer reviews. \n
- Serve as the supervising physician for Advanced Practice Providers. \n
- Understand the Clinical Practice Guidelines and adherence to standard of care. \n
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, local medical staff rules, regulations and bylaws. \n
- Cultivate high levels of patient satisfaction. \n
- Participate in the programs performance improvement processes. \n
- Check email correspondence daily and respond. \n
- Adhere to appropriate billing and coding practices. \n
- Support the programs requirement to remain compliant with pertinent accrediting and regulatory agencies. \n
- In cooperation with hospital administration and company policies, review and respond to any complaints and grievances and recommend or take corrective action where appropriate, in accordance with the bylaws, rules and regulations of Munson or Munsons Medical Staff, as the case may warrant. \n
- Serve as liaison with affiliated medical institutions for services required such as hospitalization and emergency medical services. \n
- Participate in meetings and conferences as required by the administrative officers of the Health System. \n
- Adhere to Best Wound Care Practices. \n
- Ensure appropriate HBOT chamber quality and safety, including appropriate documentation of approved indications, physician supervision requirements, and presence of appropriately trained staff, physicians, and support for the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy program. \n
- Work collaboratively with other AWC physicians, advanced practice providers, administrators, and other staff \n
- \n
- Educational Support: \n
- \n
- Supervise clinical services provided by all program staff and provide in-service education programs as necessary. \n
- Serve as an educational resource for the medical, clinical and clerical staff. \n
- Promote personal clinical development though self-directed and continuing medical education. \n
- \n
- Operational Support: \n
- \n
- Act as an advocate for the AWC and HBOT and encourage patient referrals from the local medical community. \n
- Provide regular formal presentations to various audiences (i.e., medical staff meetings, grand rounds presentations, local medical and community organizations, etc.) to enhance visibility of the AWC and HBOT and support local medical and community education and awareness. \n
- Take directions from the AWC and HBOT Administrative Leaders and support operational initiatives and goals. \n
- Build appropriate relationships with interdisciplinary specialties to ensure appropriate and timely consultative patient care needs. Act with fiscal responsibility in managing patient wound care supplies. \n

Standard Qualifications
\n- \n
- MI license or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Michigan \n
- BE/BC physician. Primary specialties include Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine or Internal Medicine or surgical specialty. \n
- American Board of Wound Management, Certified Wound Specialist Physician \n
- Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) Advanced Training in Hyperbaric Medicine (ATMO) \n
