RN - ICU | Acute Care Registered Nurse

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing critical care in an intensive care unit setting. This role involves delivering direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise, and upholding the highest ethical standards in nursing practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support positive health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate and communicate with physicians and team members to improve patient outcomes, while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide necessary education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills and knowledge.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

Current RN license valid in the state or through compact licensure. Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
