Environmental Scientist II Requisition ID: 144975 Location: Phoenix, AZ, US, 85040 Where You Will Work Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. As a hybrid employee you will engage in virtual collaboration and attend in‑person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Hub provides an open, flexible workspace with a working café, phone booths, and meeting rooms equipped with technology for virtual and in‑person collaboration. In‑person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements. Phoenix is the capital of the Grand Canyon State and enjoys mostly bright skies throughout the year. What You Will Do Install, operate, and maintain environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment and analyze data for compliance with regulatory requirements. Evaluate and assess environmental risk and develop programs for risk reduction while collaborating to recommend appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations. Review and/or prepare and maintain detailed records and files of environmental data and communications and evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment. Maintain basic working knowledge of national, regional, and local environmental, occupational health and other applicable regulations, as well as knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures, and may provide leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians. Serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium‑size environmental projects such as compliance, remediation, or reclamation and lead or participate in regular audits and inspections of operational areas to ensure compliance with site environmental policies, procedures, and Environmental Management System requirements. Coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements, track and report these activities as directed, and perform other duties as requested. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or Business Management or another Bachelor’s degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience. Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred including HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge or experience with Federal and Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado water quality regulation and programs including CWA, NPDES, APP, drinking water. Familiarity with hydrogeologic field methods such as well installation, aquifer testing, water sampling. Experience with data analysis, databases such as EQuIS and data validation. Understanding of groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW and FEFLOW. Familiarity with well development techniques and well health programs. Project management experience. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork under varying conditions. Benefits Estimated annual pay: $87,500–$120,000 (base salary only, excluding bonus, benefits and retirement contributions).
