Operations Manager

Extension is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our clients warehouse operations, fulfillment activities, outbound transportation, and inventory management. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate, and cost-effective distribution operations while maintaining high service levels and supporting business growth.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on operational leader with experience managing warehouse teams, executing key performance metrics, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse & Distribution Operations

• Oversee all inbound receiving, put-away, inventory storage, order fulfillment, and outbound shipping activities.
• Ensure accurate and timely order processing while maintaining customer service standards.
• Optimize warehouse layout, slotting strategies, and workflow to maximize space utilization and productivity.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational best practices.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Inventory Management

• Lead cycle count programs and physical inventories to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shrinkage, and operational variances.
• Partner with finance and supply chain teams to support inventory controls and reporting.
• Maintain data integrity within warehouse management and ERP systems.

Transportation & Logistics

• Manage relationships with parcel, LTL, FTL, and third-party logistics providers.
• Monitor freight spend, transportation performance, chargebacks, and claims.
• Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and reduce logistics costs.
• Coordinate capacity planning and shipping schedules during peak demand periods.

Leadership & Performance Management

• Lead, coach, and develop warehouse supervisors, leads, and associates.
• Establish and monitor KPIs including:
• On-time shipment performance
• Order accuracy
• Inventory accuracy
• Fill rate
• Labor productivity
• Provide regular operational reporting and performance updates to leadership.
• Drive accountability and continuous improvement throughout the operation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with purchasing, planning, customer service, and finance teams to support business objectives.
• Assist with onboarding new customers, including operational setup, labeling requirements, and shipping compliance.
• Support process improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in distribution center, warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, transportation management, carrier compliance, and inventory control.
• Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
• Proven ability to manage teams, drive performance, and improve operational metrics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach as required.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work within a warehouse and office environment.
