Established company, family owned since 1979, seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant specializing in Loan Servicing and Property Management.

In this vital role, you will oversee the accounting functions related to loan portfolios, property financials, and compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise will ensure accurate financial recordkeeping, timely reporting, and adherence to industry regulations, supporting our mission to deliver exceptional loan servicing and property management.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts related to loan servicing and property management activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, providing insights for management decision-making.

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.

• Conduct bank reconciliations regularly to maintain precise financial data.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.

• Assist with audit preparations by providing detailed documentation of financial transactions and supporting schedules.

• Utilize Sage accounting software to record journal entries, perform accrual accounting, and manage financial data efficiently.

Property Management:
• Interact with property owners and tenants and administer regular rent increases
• Collect rents, follow-up on delinquencies, and occasionally provide rent receipts
• Accounts Payable, entering and paying bills via check, online, and ACH
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare and review Property Financial Statements for completeness and accuracy
• Provide monthly property financial statements and Rent Roll
• Routinely calculate and distribute interest on tenant security deposits

• Housing inventory – annually for rent board

• Profit/Loss statement and rent roll – annually for Lender/Bank

• Workers Compensation insurance audit – annually

Loan Servicing:
• Collect payments, generate and mail/email monthly borrower statements

• Handle weekly Lender check runs (paper checks and ACH)

• Conduct monthly escrow analysis of impounds for taxes and insurance

• Administer property insurance and property tax payments
• Prepare Verifications of Mortgage, Payoff Demands and process Payoffs
• Generate quarterly Lender Statements

• Loan payment journal entries

• Lender and other remittance journal entries – paper checks, ACH, wires, etc.

• New loan journal entries, escrow/funding account

• Receipts/deposits from borrowers and lender journal entries

• Payments/disbursements journal entries

Additional Duties:

• Maintaining company’s general account (Fiscal Year 7/1 – 6/30)

• Cash receipts, general entries

• Accounts payable – paper checks, ACH, wires, online, etc.

• Payrolls

• Adjustment entries

External Reporting:

• Trust Accounts Audits – Quarterly and Annually

• CA Department of Real Estate reporting (Forms 852,855,856) – quarterly

• CA Department of Real Estate reporting (Form 881) – annually

• National Mortgage Licensing System report – quarterly (financial information)

• 1099/1098 filing (The Mortgage Office Software and 1099online.com)

• Financial Statements and Census Report for Profit Sharing Plan - annually

• Business license – annually (City of Burlingame)

• Statement of Information – annually (CA Secretary of State)

• Business property statement – annually (San Mateo County)

• Workers compensation insurance audit – annually

• Must live local, within 15 miles of Burlingame.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

• Proven experience in corporate accounting with a focus on loan servicing or property management.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, and regulatory reporting requirements.

• Proficiency in Sage accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Familiarity with technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

• Strong communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation; mentoring abilities are highly valued.

• Becoming a Notary Public will be required

Full-Time 40 Hours Weekly
Monday through Friday
9AM to 5PM (with 1 hour PAID lunch break)
