Electrical Construction Inspector (Part-Time / As Needed)

BENOLI is seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Inspector to support construction management services for municipal infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a retired engineer, electrical inspector, master electrician, electrical superintendent, or construction professional looking for flexible, part-time work. Position Summary The Electrical Construction Inspector provides field inspection and construction management support during the installation of electrical systems for municipal water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will verify compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, industry standards, and project specifications while serving as BENOLI's representative during construction. This position works closely with project managers, resident engineers, contractors, owners, and design professionals to ensure quality installation and successful project delivery. Primary Responsibilities Perform field inspections of electrical construction activities. Verify installations comply with contract drawings, specifications, NEC, NFPA, NEMA, OSHA, and applicable local codes. Monitor installation of: Medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems Switchgear and switchboards Motor control centers (MCCs) Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Standby generators and automatic transfer switches Transformers Lighting and power systems Grounding systems Instrumentation and control equipment PLC, SCADA, and communication infrastructure Prepare daily field reports documenting construction progress, deficiencies, corrective actions, and project status. Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for conformance with contract documents. Review RFIs and assist the Engineer of Record with technical responses. Review contractor redline drawings for completeness and accuracy. Review Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals before project closeout. Participate in preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and punch list inspections. Coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders to resolve field issues. Identify non-conforming work and recommend corrective actions. Support project closeout and final acceptance inspections. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience inspecting or constructing commercial, industrial, utility, or municipal electrical systems. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices. Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, control schematics, panel schedules, specifications, and construction documents. Experience with construction administration, contractor coordination, and quality assurance/quality control. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF markup software. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.
