Part-Time Physical Therapist

Part‑Time Physical Therapist (School Year 2026–2027) Assignment Dates: August 10 – May 16 Employment Type: Part‑Time Position Overview The Part‑Time Physical Therapist delivers skilled school‑based therapy services that promote student mobility, functional independence, and access to the educational environment. This role includes evaluation, treatment planning, intervention, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in alignment with state regulations, federal special education law, and district policies. Supervision Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) Rehabilitation Technicians/Aides (as applicable) Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program Active Kansas Physical Therapist license Successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) Minimum one year of clinical experience preferred (school‑based or pediatric experience beneficial) Key Responsibilities Conduct evaluations to determine student needs within the special education framework. Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with IEP goals. Provide evidence‑based interventions, including: Therapeutic exercise Functional mobility training Neuromuscular re‑education Positioning strategies and adaptive equipment recommendations Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and multidisciplinary teams to support student participation and success. Participate in IEP meetings, contributing to goal development, progress updates, and service recommendations. Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Support safe student engagement in school activities through environmental modifications and staff training. Provide mobility and safety training to school staff and caregivers. Supervise PTAs and support personnel in compliance with Kansas practice standards. Ensure therapy spaces and equipment meet safety and compliance expectations.
