Qualifications Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from a Kansas-approved program A valid license issued by the State of Kansas in Physical Therapy Experience in direct services to children and families in a school setting (preferred) Essential Job Functions Assess students' gross motor skills and functional abilities to determine program eligibility and develop recommendations for services and assistive devices. Collaborate with parents, teachers, physicians, administration, team members, and other professionals to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in compliance with guidelines. Consult with teachers, parents, and outside professionals to provide information, develop service plans, and coordinate therapy services. Develop treatment plans, interventions, and educational materials to remediate students' motor skill deficits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Identify structural issues to remove barriers for students with physical limitations or to identify appropriate assistive technology. Instruct students and staff on medical/behavioral attributes, use of assistive devices, and implementation of remediation plans. Interpret medical reports to ensure treatment/intervention plans are appropriate. Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars for conveying and gathering information. Perform site visits, including home visits, to provide direct therapy interventions. Prepare and maintain written materials such as activity logs, correspondence, memos, treatment plans, Medicaid billing, and reports. Research resources and methods to determine appropriate approaches for addressing students' functional goals. Respond to inquiries from parents, teachers, staff, and students to provide information and referrals. Supervise the work of assigned CPTAs and para educators to ensure program objectives are achieved. Transport supplies and equipment to various sites as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. General Responsibilities Communication – Maintain communication with teachers, school personnel, and parents/guardians; provide health services, information, and counseling; complete accident/incident reports; compile data; maintain confidentiality. Organization – Maintain a daily log of visits and documentation; maintain the health office environment and supplies; use technology effectively; perform related work as required. Reasoning Ability – Solve practical problems; interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions. Language Skills – Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and regulations; write reports, curriculum, correspondence, and protocols; present information to administrators, staff, parents, students, and the public. Physical Demands – Sit, walk, stand, talk, hear; lift or move up to 50 pounds; push items of 50 pounds; provide therapy services per individual needs; occasionally visit children's homes.
