Job Description

The Electrical Assembler produces high-quality components by assembling parts and subassemblies, with a strong focus on electrical wiring and integration. This role involves working with electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to build and install assemblies, wire harnesses, and cable systems, while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area.

Responsibilities

• Produce components by assembling mechanical and electrical parts and subassemblies according to specifications.
• Perform electrical wiring and integrate electrical wires into products at an intermediate level.
• Prepare work by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials before starting assembly tasks.
• Use hand tools such as crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, soldering tools, cements, press-fit tools, and similar equipment to assemble parts.
• Use power tools, including torque drills, wrenches, and ratchets, to complete assembly and fastening operations safely and accurately.
• Mount assembled components such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets onto chassis or panels.
• Position and align components and parts accurately to ensure proper fit, function, and performance.
• Connect component wires to circuits and connect wires between individual component leads to complete electrical paths.
• Install finished assemblies or subassemblies into cases, cabinets, or enclosures as required.
• Assemble and install wire harnesses, cables, and wiring systems in accordance with diagrams and schematics.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, electrical assembly diagrams, schematics, and other technical drawings to guide assembly work.
• Measure materials and components accurately using a tape measure to ensure correct dimensions and placement.
• Conduct quality control checks on completed assemblies to verify conformance to specifications and standards.
• Identify and correct basic assembly or wiring issues during the build process.
• Clean and maintain the work area, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe and organized environment.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with hand tools, power tools, and electrical components.
• Support assembly line operations by contributing to efficient workflow and meeting production schedules.

Essential Skills

• Intermediate-level experience with electrical wiring and integrating electrical wires into products.
• Hands-on experience with wire harness assembly and cable/wiring installation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, electrical assembly diagrams, schematics, and related documentation.
• Proficiency working with various hand tools such as crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, soldering tools, cements, and press-fit tools.
• Proficiency using power tools including torque drills, wrenches, and ratchets.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Experience working on an assembly line or in an electrical assembly environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely as part of daily tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work from parts lists and technical drawings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with wire harness design or familiarity with harness layouts.
• electronic assembly, including working with resistors, transformers, capacitors, transistors, and integrated circuits.
• Comfort working with chassis, panels, cabinets, and enclosures for mounting assemblies.
• General mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic manufacturing or production environments.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace and care for tools and equipment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled production facility designed to provide a comfortable and consistent working temperature. You can expect 10-hour shifts and weekend work for the time being, with a typical first shift schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment involves working on an assembly line with electrical and mechanical components, using a variety of hand tools and power tools such as torque drills, wrenches, ratchets, soldering tools, and crimpers. The workspace emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with regular cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment to support safety and efficiency.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
