Maintenance Technician II

Great food and great service only go so far if the walk-in's leaking, the fryer's down, or the front door won't lock. That's where you come in. Pressed Cafe is looking for a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep our restaurants running safe, sound, and open for business. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Facilities Manager, maintenance, and restaurant teams across Massachusetts and New Hampshire — troubleshooting equipment, chasing down leaks, wiring in new outlets, and generally being the person everyone's relieved to see pull into the parking lot. This isn’t a break-fix-and-bounce job. We want someone who spots the small stuff before it becomes the expensive stuff, and who’s building a real preventative maintenance program alongside us as we grow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FACILITY MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS

Handle routine maintenance and repairs across Pressed Cafe locations — plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, the whole toolbox. Run regular restaurant inspections and flag deficiencies before they turn into problems. Troubleshoot equipment and building-system failures, then actually fix them. Tackle basic plumbing (sinks, faucets, drains, toilets, water lines), basic electrical, and basic HVAC/refrigeration work within your qualifications. Repair doors, hinges, locks, shelving, walls, ceilings, and flooring — and swap out lighting, switches, and outlets as needed. Answer the call when something breaks in an emergency, and knock out repairs during scheduled visits whenever you can.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

Build and run daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance schedules. Inspect cooking equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building components — spot trouble before it's a breakdown. Track recurring failures, recommend fixes, and keep clean equipment service records. Help stretch the life of our equipment, and know when it’s time to recommend replacement instead of another repair.

RESTAURANT SUPPORT

Partner directly with restaurant managers and staff to resolve facility issues. Train teams on proper equipment operation and basic preventative maintenance. Keep communication clear on repair status and expected completion, and help minimize downtime.

VENDOR & CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT

Be the go-between for Pressed Cafe, contractors, landlords, and service vendors. Coordinate specialized repairs outside your wheelhouse and keep an eye on contractor quality. Assist with warranty claims and flag contractor concerns to the Facilities Manager. Conduct facility inspections and deliver clear visit reports — completed repairs, outstanding items, safety concerns, and capital improvement opportunities. Jump into new restaurant openings and facility turnover inspections, plus construction and warranty follow-up.

COST CONTROL & EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Dig into what’s driving up maintenance costs and find root causes for recurring failures. Favor fixing it in‑house over unnecessary outsourcing, and help spot capital needs before they’re emergencies. When something stops working, gets unsafe, or threatens operations — assess it, secure it, fix what you can, escape what you can’t, and document the whole thing.

QUALIFICATIONS

What You’ll Bring Solid working knowledge across the trades — carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, commercial cooking equipment, and general building maintenance. A troubleshooter’s brain: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, equipment — you can read a manual or a wiring diagram and get to the fix. Strong organization and time management; you can juggle multiple maintenance requests without dropping one. Comfort working independently, plus the people skills to explain a repair to a restaurant manager without the jargon. A safety‑first mindset and the discipline to keep accurate maintenance records. • 5+ years of facilities, maintenance, mechanical, restaurant equipment, or related experience preferred — restaurant maintenance experience is a big plus.
• Comfort with commercial cooking equipment, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or appliance repair; trade certifications are a nice‑to‑have.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record — you’ll be traveling between locations, sometimes with your own toolbox in tow.
• This role runs a 2 PM–11 PM shift, and rotating on‑call coverage is a must — equipment doesn’t break on a 9‑to‑5 schedule.
• Physically up for the job: standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and working in hot, cold, wet, or tight spaces around commercial kitchen equipment.
