Executive Director, Biostatistics - Medical Affairs

Gilead seeks an Executive Director of Biostatistics to lead the Medical Affairs biostatistics function across therapeutic areas. The role requires building and managing a high-performing team, providing statistical oversight of internal and external biostatisticians, and delivering strategic expertise for medical evidence-generation activities. Strong leadership, functional expertise, and resource management capabilities are essential.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Medical Affairs Biostatistics team, including structure and capability planning
Provide statistical oversight of biostatisticians and external consultants supporting Medical Affairs portfolio
Develop staffing plans and assign resources across competing programs and priorities
Establish and enforce SOPs, standards, and statistical methodology for Medical Affairs studies
Champion statistical tools development and explore innovative analytical approaches for efficiency

Requirements

Proven functional leadership and people management experience
Deep knowledge of drug development, GCP, and ICH regulatory guidelines
Ability to supervise team leads and manage biostatisticians
Expert-level statistical methodology and data analysis skills
Strong verbal, written, and negotiation communication abilities
Strategic judgment applying innovative and pragmatic statistical approaches
Experience with medical affairs studies and evidence-generation activities
