Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

The Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical unit provides skilled nursing care to patients, focusing on assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. This role requires flexibility to float between units and deliver high-quality care in a rehabilitation hospital setting. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to support patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

• Conduct patient assessments and monitor clinical progress.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Provide patient and family education and support.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic charting system.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Float between units as assigned to meet staffing needs.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
• Valid driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field work if required.

• Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing or rehabilitation settings.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical records system.
• Additional certifications relevant to specialty areas (e.g., ICU, ER, PACU).

• Floating between units is required.
• On-call is not required.
• Weekend work is required as needed, at minimum every other weekend.
• Patient-to-nurse ratios typically range from 1:6 to 1:8.
• 48-hour work periods are approved.

• Shift assignments vary; block scheduling is not required.
• Work schedule includes weekends as needed.
• Shifts are determined based on unit needs and staffing requirements.
