Lab Operations Intern

About the Role We’re looking for a curious, hands‑on intern to join our Lab Management crew in San Francisco. This role sits at the intersection of Technical Support, Lab Operations, and Project Coordination—helping keep our labs running smoothly while driving improvements behind the scenes. Your contributions will impact how labs operate today and in the future. What You’ll Do Jump into live lab projects—upgrade equipment, set up new spaces, and improve existing environments. Help rebuild how we track projects (milestones, timelines, action items) using AI tools. Get hands‑on with troubleshooting across audio, video, control systems, and compute environments (with support from engineers). Create and update clear, usable docs (project pages, CAD drawings, runbooks). Keep labs organized, stocked, and ready for action day‑to‑day. Join lab walks to flag and resolve real issues—cleanliness, safety (EHS), space usage, and setup gaps. Own and update task trackers—what’s broken, what’s next, what’s blocked. Coordinate fixes with facilities, vendors, and internal teams to keep things moving fast. Manage inventory and equipment organization so nothing gets lost or delayed. Document how we do things, spot inefficiencies and prototype smarter workflows using data, automation, and AI. What We’re Looking For Detail‑obsessed and organized—notice what others miss and keep things on track. Know your way around AV signal flow (or excited to learn fast). Use AI as a tool, not a buzzword—apply it to rethink workflows or simplify messy processes. Fixer mindset—jump in and improve broken or inefficient systems. Comfortable getting hands dirty—cable termination tools, testers, and basic mechanical gear. Curious about how spaces work—listen rooms to theaters, understand behind‑the‑scenes operations. Adaptable—switch gears between troubleshooting hardware, updating docs, or chasing down vendors. Nice to Have (Not Required) Can read CAD drawings and wire diagrams. Comfortable with Office 365, Copilot, drafting tools, or media production tools. Some exposure to engineering, IT, or AV environments. Interest in operations, systems design, or project management. Use AI to actually change how work happens. Eligibility Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field. Candidates with a background in other STEM disciplines (e.g., Mathematics) are also encouraged. Recent graduates (within 6 months of graduation) are eligible. Must be available to work full‑time Monday–Friday for 6 months between September 2026 and March 2027. Start date: September 21, 2026.
