Computer Vision Research Engineer

The Cloud AI team at the Huawei Research America is looking for highly motivated and qualified Computer Vision Research Engineers to conduct applied research and industrial practice in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. We are interested in all components of an AI Platform on Cloud, including but not limited to machine learning and deep learning framework, visual recognition and understanding algorithm, object recognition/detection/segmentation algorithms, knowledge graph engine and efficient inference algorithm, large scale data analysis framework, etc. We are leading researchers and engineers from worldwide to create adaptive and high performance AI engines on Huawei's Cloud for real-world applications, such as image recognition, face recognition, content moderation, image caption, action recognition, video summarization, financial fraud detection, anomaly detection, behavioral analysis, acceleration on heterogeneous platforms, user-behavior modeling in e-commerce, etc. This position enables one to work with our team members with backgrounds in analytics and systems, distributed systems, parallel algorithms, etc., as well as collaborating with academic partners in universities. We encourage researchers/engineers/students actively creating algorithms/software/systems to solve real-world problems, and contributing to high-quality open-source communities, and actively publishing papers. We are recruiting skillful computer vision researcher and/or software developer with multi-disciplinary backgrounds to contribute to the growth of the company and the success of our society.

Responsibilities:

• Implement research papers and build prototypes
• Design and implement computer vision algorithms, systems, applications and products, such as face recognition, face attribute recognition, object detection, image recognition/segmentation/understanding, object tracking, video understanding, action recognition, and pose estimation
• Study and innovate in computer vision/machine learning and its application in cloud environment
• Work with collaborating teams and provide technical assistance

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

• BS, MS or above in Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics or related fields
• Good understanding of common computer vision and machine learning algorithms as well as popular platform
• Skills with C/C++ or other programming language, as well as Python or other similar scripting language
• Familiar with at least one mainstream deep learning frameworks, such as Caffe, Tensorflow, Karas and MXNet
• 1+ year experience in computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning
• 1+ year experience in front-end visualization/HCI and/or back -end database practice

Preferred:

• PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistic or related fields
• Experience participating on a team building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Experience in major company working with computer vision, machine learning and its application
• Experience with building backend services with Django, Flask, etc.
• Experience with cloud and mobile computing
• Experience in Open Source Big Data Ecosystem is a plus
• Experience with industrial practice of linear algebra, deep learning, statistics is a plus
