General Summary of Position

This position involves both clinical and administrative tasks within our healthcare settings, adhering to established policies and procedures. Under the guidance of a physician, responsibilities include patient intake, following standing orders or protocols, conducting venipuncture, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring patient follow-up. Additionally, the role includes administering oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal medications as prescribed by a provider, contingent upon demonstrating proficiency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or their representative. Clinical Care Specialists (CCSs) who are certified Radiologic Technologists will also be responsible for performing and transmitting X-ray diagnostic images. Accurate documentation in the medical record is essential, as is supporting efficient patient flow.
- Assist in achieving departmental goals and objectives while adhering to policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with governmental and accreditation requirements.
- Follow the organization's Code of Conduct and Compliance plan; adhere to governmental and accreditation guidelines, completing all required training, including safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, general compliance, harassment, and service.
- Clean, stock, and sterilize equipment, as well as prepare patient rooms for care delivery.
- Provide patient care in accordance with policies, prioritizing patient and employee safety and quality of care.
- Adopt new technologies and utilize the electronic health record effectively.
- Manage patient flow through consistent communication with patients and families, demonstrating genuine concern for their time and comfort.
- Conduct various tests and provide care in line with the organization's practices, including spirometry/PFTs, measuring patient vitals and BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing tests, splinting, and general patient care under the supervision of a medical provider.
- Make follow-up calls to patients regarding lab tests, patient experience, and clinical results, maintaining professionalism.
- Perform venipuncture and selected patient and laboratory tests (point of care); initiate care pathways as per policy.
- Conduct X-rays as per medical provider orders, forwarding images to the appropriate radiologist for review, while maintaining X-ray equipment and adhering to safety protocols.
- Foster a respectful atmosphere towards patients, families, vendors, employers, and colleagues, maintaining professionalism in all communications.
- Deliver care that aligns with our mission, vision, and values, fostering patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations.
- Act as a patient escort throughout the care process and assist with patient discharge, ensuring clarity for patients and their family members.
- Support new clinical and service initiatives; actively seek opportunities to enhance care and the patient experience.
- Assist team members during downtime or bottlenecks in patient processing, demonstrating basic computer and patient intake skills at the front desk.
- Support medical providers in patient examinations, testing, and education.
- Under the supervision of a medical provider, prepare and administer oral medications and injections limited to intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular routes after demonstrating competency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or their representative.
- Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
- Associate's degree is required.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program is mandatory.
- Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting is required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical office is preferred.
- One year of relevant professional experience may substitute for one year of required education.
- ARRT Certification is required.
- A valid Maryland, Virginia, or DC State License in Medical Radiation is required, depending on the job location.
- CPR certification (including BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must be obtained within 90 days.
- Additional unit or specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
- Clinical competency must be verified during the initial 90-day orientation period and annually thereafter.
- Strong customer service and patient interaction skills.
- Proficient in computer and Electronic Medical Record systems, with the ability to adapt to various clinical settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $29.73 - USD $53.49 per hour.
