Dean of Students (Anticipated) Start Date: August 10, 2026 Terms of Employment Full‑Time, 1.0 FTE Calendar: 180 days / School year; 10 summer days as assigned by the Principal Daily schedule: M‑F, 7:15 AM – 3:00 PM Salary and Benefits: Eligible for medical benefits and paid leave. Minimum Qualifications Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a Principal endorsement (or equivalent administrative endorsement); or concurrent enrollment in an ISBE‑approved program. Five years of teaching or student services experience preferred. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required. Ability to foster positive student/school/community relations. Strong interpersonal and writing skills. Effective communication with students, community, staff, and administration. Reliability and punctuality. Availability for evening and weekend events as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in maintaining effective programs to strengthen and monitor student discipline, attendance, and progress. Conduct conferences with parents and personnel regarding attendance, truancy, or discipline. Suggest alternative restorative means and innovative approaches to support student success. Ensure necessary disciplinary records are maintained for grade‑level students. Follow up on disciplinary determinations to provide adequate support to students and teachers. Participate in implementation and finalization of disciplinary matters related to policy violations. Attend grade‑level student personnel meetings and multidisciplinary staffing for placement in appropriate programs. Supervise and assist staff during emergency situations and drills to ensure safety compliance. Assist in student orientation and promote a positive school culture. Assist in the control and supervision of extra‑curricular activities. Provide general welfare supervision of students during the school year, trips, and activities. Assist in completing educational support staff performance evaluations as assigned. Collaborate with peers to share ideas and improve the learning environment. Assist in ensuring school compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods. Ability to move freely and perform duties in various locations throughout the day (stooping, bending, reaching). Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects. Exposure to noise and activity typical of a school setting. The District The McHenry High Schools provide a comprehensive education for approximately 2,300 students. Class scheduling is a traditional eight‑period day with 45‑minute class periods and a 45‑minute lunch.
