Senior Hardware Sales Specialist

Balata Data is seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Sales Specialist to serve as an internal hardware subject matter expert supporting our sales organization.

This is not a traditional quota-carrying or new-business sales role . You’ll work alongside Balata’s sales professionals to evaluate customer requirements, develop technical alternatives, source enterprise hardware, negotiate with suppliers, and structure competitive, profitable solutions.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of wholesale IT hardware brokerage experience , a strong network of trusted suppliers, and deep expertise in enterprise data center hardware—particularly compute and server platforms .

Location: Atlanta-area candidates who can work from our office are preferred; however, we’re open to remote candidates with the right experience and expertise.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as an internal hardware SME for Balata’s sales team.
• Evaluate customer requirements, configurations, BOMs, feature codes, and part numbers.
• Develop technically appropriate alternatives when requested hardware is unavailable, overpriced, constrained, or approaching end of life.
• Source enterprise hardware through established supplier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, availability, freight, warranty, payment terms, and delivery commitments.
• Apply market knowledge of pricing, lead times, scarcity, and residual values to improve acquisition costs and protect margin.
• Help structure competitive hardware solutions across compute, storage, networking, and related data center infrastructure.
• Maintain and expand a strong network of vetted hardware suppliers.

Technical Expertise

Strong knowledge of major enterprise platforms is expected, including Dell Technologies, HPE, IBM, Lenovo, Cisco, Supermicro, NetApp, Pure Storage, Hitachi Vantara, and other leading data center OEMs.

Expert-level compute/server knowledge is strongly preferred. You should be comfortable evaluating complete server configurations, including processors, memory, storage, RAID, networking, HBAs, GPUs, PCIe, power, firmware compatibility, OEM feature codes, part numbers, and upgrade paths.

• Proven ability to source complex and difficult-to-find equipment
• Strong supplier negotiation and commercial skills
• Ability to identify equivalent or superior hardware alternatives
• Strong understanding of secondary-market pricing and availability
• Excellent judgment, communication, and margin awareness
