Student Service Advisor

Position Summary Greenwood Community High School is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Student Services Advisor to support the academic, behavioral, social, and personal success of our students. The Student Services Advisor will work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, counselors, administrators, and other school personnel to identify student needs, address barriers to success, and connect students with appropriate school and community resources. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and relationship builder who is passionate about supporting high school students and helping them become successful, responsible, and engaged members of the school community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Builds positive and supportive relationships with students and serves as a trusted adult and resource within the school. Provides individual and small-group support to students experiencing academic, attendance, behavioral, social, or personal challenges. Works with students to develop strategies for improving attendance, behavior, organization, motivation, and overall academic success. Monitors student attendance, grades, behavior, and other indicators to identify students who may need additional support or intervention. Collaborates with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement appropriate student interventions. Communicates with parents and guardians regarding student concerns, progress, attendance, behavior, and available supports. Assists students with problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making, and the development of positive school behaviors. Helps students understand school expectations, policies, procedures, and available resources. Supports new and transfer students as they transition into Greenwood Community High School. Connects students and families with appropriate school-based and community resources when additional assistance is needed. Participates in student support meetings, intervention meetings, and other collaborative meetings as assigned. Assists with attendance interventions and works with students and families to address patterns of absenteeism and tardiness. Works closely with school counselors and administrators to support students experiencing significant barriers to academic success. Supports schoolwide initiatives designed to improve student engagement, belonging, attendance, behavior, and academic achievement. Provides supervision and student support throughout the school day as needed. Maintains accurate and confidential documentation related to student services, interventions, and student progress. Maintains confidentiality and follows all applicable school corporation policies and state and federal requirements regarding student information. Serves as a positive role model and promotes respectful, responsible, and productive student behavior. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal and/or administration. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred, preferably in education, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or a related field. Previous experience working with high school students preferred. Experience supporting students with academic, behavioral, attendance, or social‑emotional needs preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to establish positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and school personnel. Ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive when working through challenging situations. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary school team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment when handling sensitive student information. Knowledge of community resources and student support services is beneficial.
