Per Diem X-Ray Technologist

Job Description Radiologic technologists must follow physicians’ orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their coworkers from unnecessary exposure. They help patients transfer to the detector or exam table, ensure adequate patient immobilization, verify proper patient identification, and route studies to PACS. Additional tasks include placing demographic information for interpretation, maintaining a daily log of patients seen, operating radiologic or fluoroscopy (c-arm) equipment, obtaining essential information from patients and records, monitoring patient reaction to treatment, preparing and assisting patients for procedures, educating patients, and ensuring quality imaging techniques. They observe safety procedures, perform equipment quality control checks, work independently with flexibility, commit to total quality management, keep up with technology and safety changes, process studies onto CD or film while maintaining HIPAA compliance, maintain cleanliness and sterile technique, familiarize themselves with emergency drugs and equipment, manage booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS systems, pursue continuing education, and maintain professional licenses. Candidates also receive cross–training on applicable modalities upon hire and may perform related duties as assigned. Follow physicians’ orders and regulatory radiation protection requirements. Assist patients with transfer and immobilization. Verify patient identification and route studies to PACS. Place patient demographic data for interpretation. Maintain a daily patient log. Operate radiologic or fluoroscopy equipment for diagnostic imaging. Gather clinical information from patients, records, and prior scans. Monitor patient reaction and report changes. Prepare and assist for radiologic procedures, ensuring patient dignity and protocol compliance. Follow safety, radiation protection, and universal precautions. Conduct equipment quality control checks and report deficiencies. Work independently with flexibility in assignments. Demonstrate commitment to quality management and service excellence. Stay informed of technology and safety updates. Process studies onto CD or film, maintaining HIPAA compliance. Maintain equipment and area cleanliness. Practice sterile technique and prevent cross‑contamination. Know the location of emergency drugs and equipment. Manage booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS systems. Continue education and professional development. Maintain knowledge of human anatomy, positioning skills, and protocol utilization. Execute related duties as necessary or assigned. Cross‑train on applicable modalities upon hire. Required Qualifications: New York State Radiology License and ARRT Certification. Ability to maintain superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures. Excellent patient and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of human anatomy, positioning skills, and appropriate protocol utilization. Proficiency with routine procedures and applications. Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Pay Range: $37.69 - $47.12 Hourly The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of the position.
