Job Title: Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Profession: Nursing Specialty: Acute Care Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 4x9s plus call Hours per Shift: 9 hours Experience: One year experience in Endoscopy as a Registered Nurse License: NYS RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: One year experience serving in Endoscopy Environment as a Registered Nurse Description: The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The RN provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Endoscopy RN develops specialized skills in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions. He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions. The Endoscopy RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The RN is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment. The RN assesses patient and family needs through active listening and social perceptiveness. The RN creates a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address identified health problems. In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, the RN sets goals and monitors the patient's progress. The RN adjusts the plan based on patient responses or changes in condition. The RN promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient. The RN encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. The RN understands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. The RN motivates the patient and family by teaching them about continued care and healing at home. The RN assesses learning styles and structures sessions to maximize understanding. The RN documents the education provided and the patient/family response. The RN systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and uses the results of quality improvement activities for change. The RN engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas for professional development. The RN uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches. Nursing practice reflects the importance of making meaningful connections with patients and families. The RN seeks to develop trusting and caring relationships by being present during interactions and anticipating patient and family needs. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.
