Operations manager

Concept Components is a precision machining shop with milling, turning, and Swiss machine capabilities serving demanding industrial and aerospace customers. We are adding an operations manager to own day-to-day production operations across the shop floor. This role is designed for a tenured production manager with significant machine shop experience who is ready to lead on the shop floor from day 1—someone who earns the team’s respect through competence, solves problems before they stop machines, and does not need to be told what to do next. CNC machining experience is required for this role. Responsibilities Manage the daily and weekly production schedule to meet customer commitments (and immediately alert the general manager when commitments are at risk); work with department leads to sequence, prioritize, and cut in urgent work Coordinate with the Shipping & Assembly lead to align downstream scheduling with machining output and customer delivery commitments Own rework management: triage customer returns, identify capable machines and available capacity windows, support GM prioritization decisions New Job Launch Coordinate between machinists, quality, and management to ensure new jobs run smoothly and problems are escalated immediately Set up tooling and fixtures for new production and assembly work; own the handoff from quoting to first article Resolve setup ambiguities before they reach the machinist Machine Maintenance & Facilities Serve as first-call troubleshooter for mechanical issues across milling, lathe, and Swiss departments Triage faults, qualify and call in outside service technicians when required, identify and order replacement parts Maintain basic repair and maintenance logs; coordinate with contractors on facilities issues as they arise Lead daily floor standup and drive accountability on output, schedule adherence, and quality handoffs Serve as a resource for department leads; build a floor culture where problems surface early and are resolved at the lowest level possible Work with GM and department leads to develop new employee onboarding and training for different skill levels of shop employees Escalate to the GM when a decision requires commercial or engineering judgment; own everything below that threshold Qualifications Required 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a complex manufacturing environment Solid working knowledge of CNC machine principles across turning and milling—able to understand and discuss setups, tooling, and feeds/speeds Mechanically adept: comfortable troubleshooting machine faults, working alongside service technicians, and handling general facilities issues Organized and process-minded; able to manage a schedule, track competing priorities, and communicate clearly across the shop floor and up to senior leadership Blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency Preferred Experience managing rework dispositions and customer return coordination Familiarity with job shop scheduling or ERP software (JobBOSS, E2, Epicor, or similar) Experience in an ISO 9001 or AS9100-certified environment How to apply Send a resume and a brief note describing your machining background and any supervisory experience to: View email address on click.appcast.io #J-18808-Ljbffr Concept Components
